Featured Ingredients ... a bit of
history:
Tea Tree Oil: The tea
tree is indigenous to northern New South Wales, Australia.
Aborigines there have crushed the leaves into mudpacks to treat cuts
and skin infections for centuries. Captain Cook had his crew
brew tea for his men to prevent scurvy, thus the origin of the
tree's name in English. It is presently being used by naturalists
for a variety of skin conditions.
Aloe vera: The aloe plant
originally came from Africa. Aloe vera has been used for its
medicinal qualities for centuries. It was described in the Ebers
papyrus and drawings of the plant found on the walls of ancient
Egyptian temples show that Aloe vera pulp was used externally in the
treatment of burns, ulcers, and parasitic infections of the skin.
Hippocrates also described Aloe vera and its medicinal value in his
writings. Today, people grow Aloe in their own gardens to soothe
sunburn, insect bites and other skin irritations.
