Sudsy Myths on the Art of Shampooing Debunked

Most owners do it. But not many take the time to find out how to do it right.

There are plenty of myths about shampooing our pets and we are here to debunk those myths. Groom your pet the HealthyPetNet way, and learn why Spa Scents Revitalizing Shampoo and Spa Scents Bath Fresh Mist are summer must-haves.

Myth #1: Shampooing my pet twice a year is enough.
The wash requirement for each pet is different depending on breed, lifestyle, skin type, hair length, diet, etc. For instance, some pets have oil glands that work in hyper drive because of their particular ancestries. Other pets need to be washed several times a month solely because of their choice of summer activities (i.e., swimming, rolling around in the grass, hiking, etc). Some pets need frequent washing to get rid of dander and decrease shedding. Consult with your vet about the frequency of bathing. The frequency with which you shampoo your pet will also depend upon the shampoo you use. Some can leave your pet feeling oily. Some will dry out the coat. Some can leave your pet smelling more unpleasant than he did before the bath. Dr. Jane knows this and formulated Spa Scents Revitalizing Shampoo with all this in mind. Spa Scents Revitalizing Shampoo contains moisture activated odor-fighters that react immediately to absorb and neutralize tough pet odors. The botanical infusion of organic rosemary and sage along with nourishing essences of coconut and palm kernel oil will naturally cleanse and beautify your pet’s coat as the luscious scents of mango and kiwi mingle with energizing citrus notes to bring out natural shine.

Myth #2: Baby Shampoo is gentle enough for pets.
Do not use baby shampoo, shower gel, Selsum Blue, or any shampoo designed for use by humans on your pet. Our pets' skin has its own particular pH balance, which is different than ours and so products made for people can irritate pets tremendously. You may think your pet looks great after using shampoo for humans but it is jeopardizing the skin's natural barrier. Besides, why use a product not formulated with our pets in mind?  Spa Scents Revitalizing Shampoo was formulated after years of extensive research on our pets' skin and coat needs.

Myth #3: It's important that I wash my small dog every week.
Washing small pets every week is not always necessary. In fact, too much bathing can wash away the skin's natural ability to stay healthy. Frequent shampoos can wreak havoc on oil glands as well.  Although Spa Scents Revitalizing Shampoo is gentle enough to safely shampoo your pet every week, we recommend that you change up your routine.  Why not shampoo one week and refresh your pet's coat with Spa Scents Bath Fresh Mist the next? This effective spray is a symphony of herbal extracts, plant botanicals and fruit extracts that fluff up the coat, make it look shiny and keep your pet smelling fresh longer than you ever thought possible!

Myth #4: Tomato juice is the only thing that kills skunk odor.
In the unlikely event that your pet gets sprayed by a skunk, you no longer need to douse your poor pet in cans and cans of tomato juice and make him sit for 20 minutes. Although it's been a great home remedy in years past, Spa Scents Revitalizing Shampoo and Bath Fresh Mist are the ultimate home solution. The Shampoo and the Bath Fresh Mist both have built in odor neutralizing ingredients that wrap around odors like a python and strangle the life out of them. Ahhhhhhh!

Myth #5: I have to spend 5 to 10 minutes wetting my dog to work up a rich lather.
Your pet doesn't have to be completely soaked in order to work up a rich lather. In fact, once your dog has been sprayed with water, it makes no difference how long the dog has been wet. Spa Scents Revitalizing Shampoo has such a rich lather on its own that you don't need gallons of water to activate it. It rinses really easily—that shows how gentle it is. Be sure to rinse well and never shampoo above the neck.

Myth #6: All Pet shampoos are
the same.  Might as well buy the cheapest one.

This couldn't be further from the truth. You get what you pay for. Inexpensive shampoos are just that ... heavy soaps that can dry out your pet's skin and can leave a smell behind that you didn't have before. Then there are those with a heavy, artificial scent. Did you ever smell a person in an elevator with too much perfume?

Between the harmonizing ingredients in the Revitalizing Shampoo and the revolutionary Bath Fresh Mist, these magical bottles will make your pet's coat serenade everyone's eyes, noses and hands this summer.
