Japanese Spitz Dog Breed Information


The Japanese SpitzJapanese Spitz is a small, completely white breed of dog that is thought to have been bred from the Siberian Samoyed for smallness beginning in the late 19th century in Japan. They were introduced to the United States in the 1950s.

Appearance

They typically weigh 11 to 13 lb (5-6 kg), fully grown, and stand 12 to 14 inches (30-36 cm) off of the ground at the withers. Their coats are mostly white. The hair is longest on the body, with short hair on the head and ears.

Temperament

The Spitz is an intelligent dog. They make good pets, being easy to train. They are very active, playful, affectionate. They are good with children and other dogs. They bark at strangers and to get attention, making them excellent watch dogs.
